Classified Ad posted Thu 08 May 2008 23:05:17: RICHMOND HILL COMMUNITY POLITICS
I'd like the Richmond Hill community to be aware of the fact that one of the two Congressmen that represent Richmond Hill has been abusing taxpayers' funds by leasing an expensive car. Gregory W. Meeks has been leasing a Lexus LS 460 for $998 a month using taxpayers' money. This is a perk that House of Representative members receive, and he has been abusing it by leasing an extremely expensive car. Meanwhile, our other Congressman - Anthony Weiner, only leasing a Chevy Impala for $219 a month. The difference is outrageous and unconscionable. In a time where the economy is suffering due to high fuel/food prices and many people are losing their homes to foreclosure (especially people in Southeast Queens). How can our Congressman justify spending $1k a month for his car expense?? If he really enjoys driving a nice care, he should do it with his own money, not our tax dollars. I implore the richmondhillny.com organization to speak out against this egregious wrongdoing. Please write to Congressman Meeks to let him know what Richmond Hill thinks of this. For more info, please see this nytimes.com article at (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/01/nyregion/01cars.html) Thank you, a concerned citizen.Classified Ad posted Thu 17 Apr 2008 21:35:18: CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION EVENT
