Kathy Bows -- Regarding your message of 9 /16 /04. My name is Frank McCauley, and I lived in Richmond Hill for over 20 years, made lots of friends, and was known to alot of people. In your message you mentioned a Carol Malony. That name rang a bell with me, if it's the same girl. This Carol lived just off 101st Ave. between 110-115th Streets, I'm not sure of the street. We used to meet at Karps on Liberty Ave., sit and talk for hours. This girl was a real sweet heart, who used to travel with two other friends, all the time. I don't remember their names, but I do remember Carol. This isn't bad for over 50 years ago. If it is the same girl, I thank you for the memories. Frank McCauley

Grew up on 121st St. and 89th Ave. During the '30's and '40's, attended P.S.51, P.S. 54, and RHHS. In 1945, because the war was on, left RHHS (age 17) to enlist in the Marine Corps, and retired from military service in 1968. Married Vita Ruccione (also from Richmond Hill) in 1950. (She passed away 6 days before 9/11). Would love to hear from the first (and best) friends I ever had. If any of you know where I might purchase RHHS yearbooks for Jun45, Jan46, and/or Jun46, please let me know.

I used to spend my summers at my aunt's home on 123rd Street. I would like to locate an old girlfriend, Gloria Grumbliniak, used to date a fellow named Frankie -- this would have been around 1961 or so. I dated Artie Voelker. Does anyone in NY make crumb buns like Krons bakery used to?

This is a wondeful sight for calling up the past, although as a reseident of south Richmond Hill from 1939 to 1961 there aren't too many people still around to recall. I'd love to hear from anyone who was associated with St Teresa and PS 121. Graduated from there in 1953. Liberty Ave. from Van Wyck Boulevard, Watt & Watt drug store on the corner to O Solo Mio Restaurant under the El calls up a whole world of past youth and joy. I don't think there will ever be any thing like it again.

Richmond Hill House and Garden Tour 2006 - Sunday, May 21, 2006

You are invited to participate in the Eighth House and Garden Tour sponsored by the Richmond Hill Chapter of the Friends of the Queens Library on Sunday, May 21, 2006. This is the Friends' major fundraiser each year. Proceeds from the Tour supplement existing and fund new services and programs at the local branch.

Six residences will be open to the public between the hours of 12 noon and 4 pm. The tour is self-guided and ticket holders can visit any or all of the homes at their own leisure. You will see beautifully preserved, meticulously restored or tastefully updated exteriors and interiors as well as private gardens in Spring bloom. You will enjoy majestic staircases, stained glass windows, ornate fireplace mantels, pocket doors, inlaid floors, rare bluestone sidewalks, period antiques and furnishings and eclectic personal art collections.

Most homes are within a moderate walking distance of each other while one is in Glendale but easily reachable by car of Q55 Myrtle Avenue bus. Ticket holders will receive a guidebook with the location and description and of each house accompanied by a sketch by Richmond Hill architect Ivan Mrakovcic.

Tickets are $15 each if purchased in advance and $20 on the day of the tour at the local branch. Tickets can now be obtained at the Richmond Hill Branch located at 118-14 Hillside Avenue, Richmond Hill NY 11418 during regular business hours and also on the day of tour. Ticket mail orders are also now being accepted. Make your checks payable to Queens Library and mail your order to:
House and Garden Tour
c/o 86-39 108th Street
Richmond Hill, NY 11418

Please indicate the number of tickets being ordered and the guidebooks will be mailed about a week before the tour date.
Light refreshments and bathroom facilities will also be available at the branch library during tour hours.

what? another guest page for those who lived in God's country? EXCELLENT! my mother (Carole nee Snedeker) and stepfather Frank Esposito had the C&F Bar and Grill at 111th and Liberty from 59-63, across from Winther's. my Grandfather Harold Snedeker had a plumbing shop on 115th near Liberty until 1969. when I was a toddler, Mom, my sister Kathleen and I lived in the apartment next to Grandpa's shop. My family lived at 115-46 117th until 1962 when we moved out to Seaford (I never got over it, my home is Queens). oh, if anyone knows Albert Loney, let me know. he was a big brother to me when I lived in the apartment building. Grandpa never had anything bad and always good to say about Albert.

Hello, I am looking for relatives, most likely nieces and nephews of my grandmother, Katherine Hofediener. I do not have much information except that she had a brother Otto who lived in Richmond Hill and a sister Margaret who lived in South Ozone Park. Grandma is one of 8 children and I know that they all grew up in NYC and surrounding areas. I would greatly appreciate any leads one might have. Thanks.
